Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan Granted N50 Million
Bail Over Alleged Defamation
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has been granted bail in the sum of N50 million by Justice Chizoba Orji of the FCT High Court.
The senator was arraigned on a three-count charge of defamation, stemming from comments she made during a live television interview on April 3 and a recorded private phone conversation on March 27, 2025. In the statements, she alleged that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and Senate President Godswill Akpabio were plotting to assassinate her.
Akpoti-Uduaghan pleaded not guilty to all charges.
As part of her bail conditions, the judge ordered that she produce one surety who must reside within the Federal Capital Territory.
The court has scheduled the trial to commence on September 23,2025
